The reason why adults need to watch over their children is because they are unable to fend for themselves in any given situation. Due to their tiny bodies and still developing minds, kids need to be taken care of by their parents to assure their safety and survival. One child though proved everyone wrong when he saved his mother from grave danger.
A five-year-old boy named Sal Cicalese, who hails from San Tan Valley, Arizona, carried his baby sister and knocked at their neighbor’s home.
According to Jessica Penoyer, their neighbor, she heard a knock on their door and was surprised to find a tiny child outside when she opened it.
What’s even more surprising is the fact that the small child was carrying something even smaller in his arms. Jessica told reporters:
“He stood there holding something, and I thought it was a doll.”
When she looked closer though, she found out that what he was carrying was his two-month-old sister. Sal then started telling her something which Jessica wasn’t able to understand at first. Initially, she thought the boy was telling her that their dog died.
“He said ‘No, my mom died in the shower, can you take care of us?’”
Once she was able to decipher what the child was saying, she immediately called an ambulance to check on the condition of the child’s mother.
Thinking that his mom had just died, Sal quickly grabbed a stool in order to open the garage door and get out of the house. He even managed to take his sister with him, but not before he wrapped her in a blanket to keep her warm.
Apparently, Sal’s mom had a seizure while she was in the shower. Although seizures aren’t usually life-threatening, it’s still a good thing that the young boy was able to call out for help. Otherwise, his mom, Kaitlyn, would’ve drowned in the bath tub.
Kaitlyn couldn’t thank Sal enough for saving her.
“Honestly he saved my life, because I was under the faucet, and if he hadn’t have gotten help I would have drowned.”
Because of his bravery and quick thinking, Sal has been hailed as an honorary firefighter. He was even given a diploma and, of course, a brand new fireman’s helmet for him to wear.
