Parents never wish for their children to experience hardships at an early age. But the unpredictability of life cannot ensure a smooth-sailing ride and sometimes, it hits them even harder. A homeless family was afraid of what two approaching police officers could do to them but the surprise that came their way was quite extraordinary.
Shannon Loveless was in an unfortunate situation that forced her to live on the streets with her kids. While she was making dinner for her children at their makeshift living space behind a Walmart in Sacramento, two police officers approached them.
They said that they only wanted to talk but Shannon felt that something bad was going to happen. She wasn’t sure if she was in trouble or if they were there to take the kids away. But Officer Tim Yee and Johnny Le actually came to help the family through their tough time.
Officer Ye and Officer Lee went inside Walmart to buy toys for the little kids and food for the whole family. It gutted them to see the young children all dirty and without a place to stay so they took it upon themselves to be kind and generous.
They also arranged for Shannon and her family to stay in a motel nearby. This was an act of kindness that Shannon will never forget. She said:
“We only see the negative side of police officers, so to see this side of them is really awesome. These cops have helped more than they know.“
Who knew that with this one decision, the policemen opened a great door of opportunity for the homeless family. Shannon gave an update about their life now.
“Your deputies helped us in a HUGE way, because of them and the resources they put us in contact with, my family and I will be in our own place within the month! I am so grateful for them and I just want them to know that. I feel like I owe everything to them for what they did for us! Thank you all again!”
