With the rise of inventive workout routines, there really is no excuse left for us not to achieve our fitness goals. Even something as simple as a hula hoop — a toy that was originally made for children — can help us achieve our dream curves. Take it from Sheryl Cruz, who was able to regain her 26-inch waist just from hula hooping.
As young as 7 years old, the seasoned actress learned how to use the hula hoop. Fast forward to over 40 years later, and she’s still making use of the ring — only this time, she’s doing it to stay fit.
Thanks to the hula hoop, Sheryl doesn’t just rock a fit physique, but she also also got rid of her health issues in just six months.
It begs the question, why did Sheryl Cruz choose the hula hoop instead of signing up for pilates classes or doing interactive cross fit? According to the singer-actress, she finds it fun.
“It’s an enjoyable full-body workout, that helps you keep fit, gives you energy, self confidence, and enhances your dancing, hooping creativity.”
Apart from hula hooping, Sheryl Cruz also does Zumba. She did, however, clarify that she prefers the former over other exercises.
“Alam mo naman na ang mga celebs napapagod din sa work at minsan gusto asa bahay lang tulad ko. I did this HH [hula hoop] dance to exercise in the own comfort of my home pag di ko na gustong lumabas pa ng bahay.”
Apparently, it was her aunt, Tita Beth, who encouraged her to try her hand at hula hooping. Now, even her daughter Ashley is into it. The kid can slay hand tricks such as the lasso and the vertical plane!
In just a few months, Sheryl became adept at hula hooping. She can even dance with the hula hoop while wearing heels!
Two weeks ago, the celebrity mom posted a short clip of herself gyrating her hips to a Keri Hilson song, all the while balancing the ring on her waist. Before you even think about it, she clarified that she’s not willing to join any competitions.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Sheryl said:
“I’m doing hula hoop dancing for fun, not to compete against anybody. The videos I’ve posted on IG inspired some of the ladies from my age group, and because it benefits me health-wise I continue do it, and share my simple dance work outs with them.”
