K Brosas talks about her battle with chronic anxiety disorder

Discussions about mental disorders such as anxiety disorder has moved from the private to the public sphere, and sometimes, to our surprise, it is the celebrities who ignite these conversations. Recently, K Brosas was not afraid to show her vulnerable side to us by candidly speaking out about how she struggled with her chronic anxiety disorder and how she deals with it.

In a previous interview with PEP, the comedienne recalled opening up her chronic anxiety disorder for the first time in public.

“Nakakatuwa kasi nung unang-una kong sinabi sa Showtime na meron akong anxiety disorder, tapos nag-video blog ako na nakapantulog lang, na ang daming views din naman kahit papaano, and yung response sobrang overwhelming, kasi ang dami palang may ganun.”

She also shared the moment her chronic anxiety disorder unexpectedly attacked her live on “It’s Showtime.”

“Naranasan ko siya sa Showtime last year, twice, live. Kaya nanunumbalik sa akin ulit, nasa utak ko, na-miss niya ako. Alam niyo ba yung feeling nun, yung nasa live ka, live television, na wala kang magawa, hawak-hawak kong kamay ay kay Billy Crawford, na nginunguya ko na yung gamot ko tapos nagdadasal ako.”

According to her, among the symptoms she experienced were uneasiness and locking of the jaws.

The singer-comedienne likewise revealed that she recuperates better when she’s alone, with her assistant only giving her medications to her.

“Ako, kapag inaatake ako, kailangan wala akong nakikitang tao. Nadi-disorient ako, kailangan assistant ko lang.”

Apparently, K Brosas’ anxiety disorder stemmed from a suppressed depression.

“Yung chronic anxiety disorder ko, nanggaling ‘yan ‘tol, nag-root ‘yan sa suppressed depression. Ito ay hindi self-diagnosed. Ako po ay clinically diagnosed.”
