When a person has a burning desire to reach a certain goal, nothing can stop them from overcoming the hurdles in their path. Not even the oppressive reality of poverty. In the popular show “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” the inspiring story of success starring businesswoman Josephine Floresca showed how rags can turn into riches.
Life wasn’t easy for Josephine and her two hard-working parents. At an early age, she witnessed and experienced the harsh reality of life and the desperate things you have to do in order to survive. Although her family had a few pigs to their name and a small stall at the local wet market, it wasn’t enough to give them a good life.
There were times when Josephine had to make rounds in their simple village to score some food scraps or kaning-baboy for their livestock. She would go from house to house to get dirty, smelly leftovers. This laborious task enabled them to save a bit more money. She also worked as a housekeeper.
Due to her dedication and hard work, she was able to climb to the top.
Josephine became a real estate broker, earning half a million pesos as commission for every house she was able to sell. These earnings encouraged her to launch more businesses such as a restaurant, a commercial building, and a four-star hotel.
Her beautiful daughters will never know what it feels to be poor and for her, that is the greatest achievement she has ever done as a mother.
