In virtually every aspect of life, most people would not want to settle for the mediocre. Unfortunately, many of us are doomed to wallow in mediocrity due to uncontrollable circumstances such as poverty or disability. For Blissie Cervantes, a student suffering from a bone disorder, she chose not to see her condition as a limitation.
This inspirational young woman is proof that nothing can ever stop us from achieving our dreams if we are determined.
Blissie is a 22-year-old college student from Davao City who has impressed everyone by graduating Magna Cum Laude in spite of her condition. It’s hard enough being a regular college student, what more for someone who is suffering from a crippling bone disorder.
This inspiring student didn’t allow her disability, a bone disorder called osteogenesis imperfecta, to stop her from attaining her goals. All she had to do was follow the usual formula that has produced so many impressive students in the past.
A rough translation of Blissie’s statement reads:
“Makinig sa teacher, sundin ang teacher kung ano ang requirements, mag-study kung mag-exam. Just love what you do dahil kung burden sa iyo ang iyong ginagawa, di mo talaga gusto pero kung isipin mong may ma-gain ka sa iyong ginagawa then magagawa mo kung ano ang kaya mong gawin.“
Here are some netizens’ reactions to Blessie’s story.
