Raffy Tulfo usually opens his public service show strong, with a show of confidence and determination.
This time, however, he had to admit something:
“First time lang ho namin makatanggap ng ganitong klaseng reklamo. Tignan natin kung paano natin masosolusyunan itong kanyang reklamo.”
Raffy Tulfo proceeded to narrate the story of Lorilyn Agustin, a lesbian who is appealing for rights to the child she helped raise with her former girlfriend and live-in partner, who passed away.
Lorilyn and her partner Melanie were together for 12 long years. However, it came to a point when Melanie got pregnant with a man. Upon giving birth, Melanie left her son to Lorilyn, who took the child as her own, and the little boy grew up calling him “Papa.”
Clearly, Raffy Tulfo was impressed by the fact that since the boy’s birth, up until he reached the age of 8, Lorilyn took care of him and provided for him. Unfortunately, upon Melanie’s death, Melanie’s parents took the child from Lorilyn, apparently forbidding her from seeing the child she treated as her own for eight long years.
Lorilyn started to break down in tears when she was able to speak with Melanie’s mother over the phone. She humbly appealed for visitation rights with the child.
As best as he could, Raffy Tulfo helped the two sides reach an agreement. However, tensions started to rise again when Lorilyn was finally reunited with her “anak.”
“Kahit paano bigyan niyo naman po ako ng karapatan sa batang inalagaan ko,” Lorilyn emotionally told the child’s grandparents, who remained firm that the lesbian didn’t have any rights as far as the child is concerned. They didn’t seem to care that this woman raised the boy most his life, at a time when his own mother seemed to have paid him no care at all.
In the end, it was decided to take matters to the town hall, where an official asked the child whether he wanted to stay with his grandparents, or with Lorilyn, his “papa.”
The kid chose to be with his “Papa.”
